Keywording services at Emetaworks

No two images are alike and hence the description varies. We do Keywording on Kwapp.comTM, developed by us. Kwapp.com TM is web based asset management software designed with the purpose of easy and accurate Keywording. Various feature in Kwapp.comTM such as Group check, List check, Captions check, Controlled vocabulary, Synonyms, and many more are created to help minimize errors and maximize efficiency.

We are providing the Keywording service for the last three years and the management has the experience of more than 10 years in the Stock Photo industry with the staff of more than 100 employee. Till date we Keyworded more than one million images.

Unique Features of Kwapp.comTM

Controlled Vocabulary:
A controlled vocabulary makes a database easier to search. Kwapp.comTM has a list of industry standardized words or phrases used in a particular database for better and perfect Keywording. These words are part of Getty ImagesTM. Since we have many different ways of describing concepts, drawing all of these terms together under a single word or phrase in a database makes searching the database more efficient as it eliminates guess work.

Synonyms:
Kwapp.comTM has features of add words of similar meaning that makes user more flexible while Keywording an Image. So if you don't have a sophisticated search engine than you might need synonyms along with the keywords.

How we do Keywording at Emetaworks

General Guidance:
Following are some general guidelines for Keywording that we used to practice here to provide customers better search on the web.

Captions: Captions are written as a definitive and grammatically accurate sentence which best describes the image. A Caption can be
1. 250-character limit
2. Concise but detailed description of the image. If appropriate and relevant to the image, Caption include the following:

  1. Location
  2. Photographic technique
  3. Latin names for plants/wildlife/scientific images
3. We do not include the following in a Caption:
  1. Ethnicity
  2. Trade names or the copyright symbol
  3. The CD title or publicity plug/account
4. Caption examples:
  1. Young woman in-line skating
  2. Couple sitting on riverbank, Paris, France
  3. Close-up of Blue-footed Booby (Sula nebouxi)

Keywords
Keywords are written as definitive and subjective words which best describe the image. An important component of this process also includes the assignment of image attributes or properties. Some of the example of Keywording we used to do.

Basic Keywords:
Basic keywords are words, nouns and or adjectives used to describe or express the apparent attributes of a given image. Simply describe what you can see like Vertical, Color Image, Horizontal, Panoramic, Square, Black and white, Sand, Sea, One Piece Swimsuit, Long Hair, Sky, Beach, Swimwear, Barefoot, you may use up to 856 characters (including spaces) to keyword your images.

Photographic Technique: Blurred Motion, Focus on foreground, Focus On Background, Selective focus etc.

Media type: Based on the image and the photographic aspects that we shoot we describe images like Photography, Illustration, Film etc.

Action Keywords: Its is the attribute of image like what's happening in the image for example Sitting, Smiling, Toothy Smile, Chasing, Playing, Moving, Touching, Shouting, Flying etc.

Age related keywords: 20-25 years, Young Adult, One Woman Only, One Young Woman Only etc

Composition: Significant compositional elements like High angle view, Low angle view, Front view, Rear view, Side view, Close-up, Head and shoulders, Three-quarter length, Waist-up, Full length, Looking at Camera.

Location: Most locations in Keywording of travel images are provided by the client. Keywording agents use these locations as a guide to determine/confirm the complete hierarchy of the location by searching online. Keywording of locations follows a standard hierarchical structure at all times. In general Outdoors, Day, Night, Indoors or office, school if it is specific geographic location we write New York City, Central Park, Washington DC, White House, USA etc.

Concepts: Concept are the main thing you are thinking about. It is an abstract or general idea inferred or derived from specific instances. We mentioned Concepts/Ideas in each and every image, for example Teamwork, Relaxation, Happiness, Vacations, Lifestyles, Leisure activity, Science, Nature, Business etc. Be judicious with conceptual keywords. The concepts are strongly depicted by the image, not a tangential possible interpretation or association with the image.

  3. Age/Ethnicity Column
  4. Adding Categories for AGE, Super Stock etc
